Peach Hand Pies

Tasty, easy and with minimal ingredients, these Peach Hand Pies are a delicious hand-held treat everyone can enjoy.

I love a good hand pie, they are so much easier to make than a regular pie and they are smaller so you don’t have to really feel guilty about how many you eat.

These Peach Hand Pies are always on our summer/fall must make list. Who can resist anything peach, and anything related to pies?

Desserts are something that go fast in our house and these are one of those that don’t last long.

With super easy to find ingredients, and minimal time and effort, you can have these bad boys in your mouth before you can finish the name.

If you’ve been looking for a fun and easy dessert that is peach flavored, look no further than these Peach Hand Pies.

WHY THIS RECIPE WORKS:

  • With minimal and easy to find ingredients these come together in no time.
  • You can double this recipe to have more on hand.
  • Switch up the filling for other tasty Hand Pie recipes.

INGREDIENTS NEEDED (FULL RECIPE AT THE BOTTOM OF THE POST):

Refrigerated pie crusts
Peach pie filling
Powdered sugar
Whole milk

Ingredients needed to make Peach Hand Pies.

HOW TO MAKE PEACH HAND PIES, STEP BY STEP:

  1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees F.
  2. Prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  3. Unroll pie crusts onto lightly floured surface.
  4. Cut out 3-4-inch circles using a biscuit cutter or round cookie cutter (I used 3 ¼-inch).
  5. Re-roll out remaining crust scraps, then cut out additional circles.
  6. Fill each circle with 2 teaspoons to 1 Tablespoon of pie filling, then fold over and pinch shut with fingers or fork around edges.
  7. Place on prepared pan.
  8. Use a skewer or fork to poke a hole in the top of each hand pie.
  9. Bake in oven for 12-14 minutes or until beginning to brown.
  10. Prepare glaze while pies are baking by adding powdered sugar to a small bowl and whisking in milk (you want this to be the consistency of a thin frosting).
  11. After removing pies from oven, generously brush glaze over pies.
  12. Transfer to a cooling rack, then allow to cool before serving.

DO I HAVE TO USE REFRIGERATED PIE CRUST?

No you do not. We use this because it is easy and quick. If you have a recipe for a pie crust that you want to use, absolutely use the homemade pie crust!

WHAT OTHER FILLINGS CAN I USE?

There are so many different fillings that you can use to switch this up depending on season or what flavor you like. Some of our favorite include:

  1. Cherry
  2. Strawberry
  3. Lemon
  4. Chocolate
  5. Apple
  6. Pumpkin
  7. Blueberry

Just switch out the filling in the recipe for any of these other fillings and follow the remainder of the directions and you will have yourself a whole new recipe!

DO I HAVE TO GLAZE THESE HAND PIES?

We did the glaze to add a nice sweetness to the outside. Otherwise it is a little boring and not as sweet as we like them

We do suggest putting some kind of topping or glaze over these Peach Hand Pies. Another topping that I use is decorators sugar.

If you want to do that, whisk an egg and before baking brush your pie crust with the egg and then sprinkle with the decorators sugar!

WHY DO I HAVE TO MAKE A HOLE IN THE TOP?

Just like making any other pie, you will want to create an air vent so the air can escape with they are baking.

If you do not do this you will run the risk of the pie itself exploding – trust me this is not fun.

HOW TO STORE:

These can be stored in an airtight container in the refrigerator where they will keep for up to 4 days.

They can also be frozen, place in a freezer container and they will keep in the freezer for up to 3 months.

To defrost, remove from the freezer to the countertop or refrigerator until thawed. To reheat you can place in the microwave in 15 second intervals until heated. With this you do run the risk of the glaze melting off.

TIPS AND TRICKS:

  • Make sure you are using a 3-4-inch round biscuit or cookie cutter.
  • You can swap out the fillings if you’d like, see some of my ideas above.
  • DO NOT forget to poke a hole in the top to let the air vent out.
  • Decorators sugar can be used as an alternative topping, see above on how to bake with that.
  • These can be frozen for up to 3 months in a freezer container.
  • Serve these with some ice cream for a tasty treat.
  • Make sure the hand pies are cooled enough before adding the glaze.
  • You can easily double this recipe.
  • If you have a homemade pie crust recipe that you want to use, go for it!
  • You can make your homemade pie filling to use as well.
